How Our Meals Get to You

Sending frozen food across the country isn’t without its challenges.  We need to make sure that it stays frozen, obviously, but we also need to make sure that it’s environmentally-friendly and economically viable too.  These things combined take the challenge to the next level.  But, hey, we love a challenge so it’s ok!

The packaging

We’ve put together a delivery box system that keeps your food frozen as it travels.  The box is made of thick card and it’s lined with insulation made from paper.  Depending on the temperature outside, we may also add an ice block to keep things truly frosty inside.

This system is 100% recyclable.  The box can either be reused or recycled and the insulation is pure paper, so can go in the same recycling.  The ice block is filled with a non-harmful, water-based solution, so it can be poured down the sink and the plastic is recyclable.

Delivery of your meals

We have partnered with DPD to deliver our meals. This is for 2 reasons:

  1. They run a carbon neutral service
  2. Their delivery system keeps you up to date and allows you to redirect your parcel to a neighbour or a safe place if you aren’t in

It’s important to us that you know where your delivery is and when it will reach you.  With DPD you’re in full control.  That way you don’t need to worry if you aren’t at home when they deliver.

They’ll notify you of a 1-hour delivery window and you can easily follow the link they provide to request your delivery is left somewhere safe if you aren’t in.

You can read more about their work in reducing carbon emission here.

On arrival

We recommend transferring your meals to the freezer as soon as they arrive, if possible.  There’s nothing nicer than the sight of a freezer full of fresh, delicious meals - ready to provide a combination of tastiness and comfort on those busy days!
