With GALentines, PALentines and Valentines day all just around the corner, we’ve come up with these healthy bites of yum which are no doubt the sassiest and most sparkly strawberries you’ve ever seen. A simple and super quick dessert that will bring some serious pizzazz to any table. Haven’t got strawberries or are buying in season? No problem! Use whatever fruit you love or have to hand.
Hosting needn’t be a stressful affair, and dessert can sometimes be the last-minute panic buy often presented in unnecessary levels of single-use packaging. So instead of reaching for those ‘cute’ individually wrapped heart chocolates, individual heart shaped puddings and red velvet cupcakes, save on the plastic guilt and give these tasty treats a go.
If you’re adding on those sparkles, do your research and make sure that it is vegan as some brands use gelatin. Rainbow Dust offer a wide selection of colours to meet your glittery needs.
All it takes is three simple ingredients and three easy steps.
Serves: Depends how hungry you’re feeling!
Prep Time: 10mins
1 carton of fresh strawberries.
1 x bar of dark chocolate, (over 70%).
1 Tbsp edible, vegan glitter.
Optional 1 Tbsp coconut cream or coconut milk for a creamier chocolate.
Begin by breaking up the dark chocolate and adding it to a saucepan on a low heat. If using the coconut cream add this to the pan as well. Stir and be patient as the chocolate slowly melts. Once the chocolate has turned into a creamy, glossy sauce, remove from the hob Dip the strawberries in one by one and place on a tray or board lined with grease proof paper. When all the strawberries are suitably covered in the yummy chocolate mix (licking the spoon is necessary) lightly sprinkle over the glitter and cover as much as you desire. Place the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes or the fridge for 20 minutes and allow the chocolate to set. When ready to serve, remove from the fridge or freezer and display in a dish to show off those sparkles!
Although we’ve used dark chocolate, both vegan yoghurt, white chocolate and caramel would also be A-mazing! Same goes for the strawberries, if you want to buy fruit in season then why not dip apple and pear slices. The equation is still there….fruit + chocolate = YUM! Ditch the glitter and add vegan icing spirals, edible sparkly stars, sugar hearts and more. Get creative and don’t be afraid to experiment. We served ours up as part of a PALentines day feast accompanied with our indulgently gooey vegan brownies, rich red wine Bourguinon for main, Minty Moroccan Bulgar Salad, hummus, dips and heart shaped pittas!
